Montreal-based ambient-pop trio Seoul recently joined the forces of Last Gang records, who also play host to Canadian heavy-hitters like Chromeo and Death From Above 1979, recently announced that they will be releasing their debut album – I Became a Shade, later this summer. The band first gained attention last year with their dreamy synth-pop masterpiece “Stay With Us”, and kept the ball rolling with the mesmerizing “White Morning”. In addition to their album announcement last month, they released their first song in 10 months -“The Line”.
“The Line” brings together a synth-infused beat and reverb-drenched vocals to create a tantalizing electro-pop hit. The mingling of lofty synths, shimmering percussion, and enchantingly hazy vocals is impeccably composed and delivered in this dance-ready track. This single is a remarkably promising preview of what this dream-pop trio is capable of, as well as what can be expected on their debut release. Their 2014 hit “Stay With Us” is nearly at 800,000 plays on SoundCloud, receiving rave reviews and some serious internet hype when it was released last year. With this recent deal with Last Gang, the announcement of a debut album, and the release of “This Line”—the hype surrounding these Montreal boys is only gaining momentum.
I Became A Shade is due to be released June 9 and you can pre-order the album on iTunes now. Make sure to catch their performance at The Garrison (co-headlining with Ballet School) on April 15th!
