‘The Music City’, Nashville, Tennessee, has a long-standing reputation for producing musical talent, including Johnny Cash, The Allman Brothers and Taylor Swift. Rock and country music is so deeply embedded in Nashville culture that even the Nashville Predators include a guitar pick and strings on player jerseys.
Enter Super Duper: Nashville’s answer to the EDM movement. Since 2012, he’s catalogued a handful of fresh remixes and dozens of original tracks. He gained quite a bit of attention last year for his remix of Amy Stroup’s ‘Back Burner’ and then 2 months ago for remixing ‘Sabotage’, also by Stroup.
His latest song, ‘Angela’ (a tribute to his girlfriend) immediately fetches feelings of MIA’s ‘Paper Planes’, yet with much softer vibes and sans gunshots. His influences include M83, Hudson Mohawke and Odesza; all of which you can hear a bit of in ‘Angela’.
