Australia’s indie-pop four piece – San Cisco make a triumphant return with their 2015 sophomore album, ‘Gracetown.’ The album — released earlier this year — sees the young band reach deeper into more sophisticated indie-pop songwriting, with plenty of danceable rhythms and catchy melodies that smoothly follow up their 2012 self-titled debut album.
This polished new effort is a natural progression for the band, who had an average age of only 18 when they released their sunshiny debut album. Since then, San Cisco has blossomed into an indie-pop powerhouse. The band has some major accomplishments under their belt — multiple headline tour dates all over the world, a spot opening for indie-titans The Vaccines on the North American leg of their tour, and sets at iconic festivals like Lollapalooza.
‘Gracetown’ is an engaging sophomore album that pushes the quartet’s sound in a fresh direction. The new material is noticeably more mature than their past efforts, but still hangs onto the band’s youthful and endearing spirit. It’s trippy, sparkling, and multifaceted surf-inspired pop — and it is the kind of thing you’re going to want to listen to all summer.
