You may not know the name yet, but if you’ve listened to the radio or Canadian pop music charts recently — you definitely know the song. Toronto native and, “Better To Be Loved” singer, Francesco Yates is only 19-years-old but has already garnered a lot of buzz thanks to musical giants like Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake rooting for his success. The singer-songwriter leaves an immediate impression with his electrifying falsetto and infectious funk-inspired pop hits (as well as his wild, style-defining curly hair). He has made Pharrell Williams such a believer that the “Happy” singer co-produced the 19-year-old’s debut for Atlantic and even invited him to play guitar on Williams’s own Daft Punk-assisted track, “Gust of Wind”.
Yates’ debut album isn’t due out until later this year, but the Scarborough popster may have already released the song of the summer in the form of his Timberlake-esque single “Better To Be Loved”.
