BRAVESTATION TEASES NEW EP

“However, sooner or later we must realize there is no one station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.” – excerpt from ‘The Station’ by Robert. J Hastings

The literary origins of the name Bravestation come from two different places. The first is from the above poem titled ‘The Station’ by Robert J. Hastings and the other is derived from Aldous Huxley’s dystopian masterpiece novel, ‘Brave New World’. Hastings says, “The station is only a dream”, and the Toronto 3-piece have widely – and coincidentally – been described by most as ‘dream pop’ (although their Facebook page describes their music as ‘Apocalypse Pop’).

The band is comprised of brothers Devin and Derek Wilson and their childhood buddy Jeremy Rossetti, who have been together since 2008. After a two year hiatus following the release of their last EP, ‘IV’, the trio returns with a couple of fresh singles to tease their upcoming release, ‘V’.

The songs ‘Actors’ and ‘Haven’ both show how much the band has matured in their musical hibernation. Their 80’s-inspired sound is still present, but I don’t think we should expect anything like their amazing (and incredibly hard to find) ‘Talking Heads -This Must Be the Place’ cover anytime soon.

Bravestation is currently doing a mini-Canadian tour with remaining shows on June 19th, 26th and 27th in Toronto, London, and Brockville, respectively. The NU team was invited to see Bravestation play last Friday in Toronto and we were blown away by their live sound so make sure you check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

With no firm date set for the ‘V’ EP, the Culvert Music-produced release is something we can look forward to with tracks like ‘Actors’ and ‘Haven’ on the list, but if the Hastings’ poem has taught us anything, it’s to take pleasure in the ride and not get too worked up over the future, so enjoy the new Bravestation songs below until the summer release of ‘V’.
