A GLASS ANIMALS + YEAH YEAH YEAHS COCKTAIL WITH A “GOLD LIME”

Despite currently rushing around on a busy festival schedule, Oxford four-piece Glass Animals have managed to find some spare time to share a brand new track called “Gold Lime”. Those familiar with the New York band Yeah Yeah Yeahs will quickly realize this is a rework of 2006 song “Gold Lion”, which also manages to throw in Erykah Badu’s “The Healer”. It’s a fusion that turns each of these originals inside out. With hip-hop samples playing off against lead singer Dave Bayley’s vocal, “Gold Lime” marks itself out as one very distinctive cover.

Glass Animals is currently touring end-of-summer European festivals like France’s Rock en Seine before heading off on a headline US tour in the fall. The track was shared in order to celebrate their set at New York’s Central Park SummerStage on 9th August. The band decided to take a song from one of their favorite New York bands, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and “Glass Animalfy” it. It’s a cover that’s not really a cover at all. Listen to the track below:
