Last night, Drake fans rejoiced as the Toronto rapper released four new songs said to be off an upcoming project titled, “More Life.” In all of the hype, one of the new singles titled “2 Birds, One Stone” has provoked a spur of discussion on twitter and social media outlets, as the song is rumoured to take hits at both Pusha T and Kid Cudi.

Earlier this month, Pusha released the single “H.G.T.V. Freestyle”, his first since the release of “Drug Dealers Anonymous” featuring Jay-Z in late June of this year. In “H.G.T.V.” Pusha T raps, saying:

“It’s too far gone when the realest ain’t real

I walk amongst the clouds so your ceilings ain’t real

These niggas ‘Call of Duty’ ’cause they killings ain’t real

With a questionable pen so the feeling ain’t real”

This quote is supposedly directed towards Drake who has been criticised heavily throughout his career for working with ghostwriters on many of his tracks.

Now, the public is saying that lyrics from “2 Birds, One Stone” are meant as a rebuttal to shots fired by Pusha T. In the song, Drake goes on to say:

“But really it’s you with all the drug dealer stories that’s gotta stop thoughYou made a couple chops and now you think you ChapoIf you ask me though you ain’t lining in the trunk with kilo’sYou bagging weed with all your niggas watching PacinoLike ‘this is what we need to be on,’ but never went live”

It seems that Drake has used this opportunity to address Pusha T’s exaggerated drug dealing history, and also as a dis towards Pusha’s songs’ repetitive reference to drugs in general. The lyrical backfire between Drake and Pusha T is quite likely, seeing as the two rappers have had a longstanding history of distaste towards one another.

The more controversial debate however, arises from quotes in “2 Birds, One Stone” which are allegedly directed at Kid Cudi.

“You were the man on the moon, now you go through your phasesLife of the angry and famousRap like I know I’m the greatest and give you the tropical flavoursStill never been on hiatusYou stay xan and perked up so when reality set in you don’t gotta face it”

Kid Cudi mentioned Drake during his recent ravings on Twitter, where he called out the 6 god for being fake and that he “ain’t f***ing with me.” Post Twitter-rant however, Cudi checked himself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges. It is this turn of events that had sparked criticism towards Drake in the light of the “2 Birds, One Stone” release.
