On Wednesday I was lucky enough to catch The USS guys in the third out of the six sold out shows they are playing as part of Toronto’s 102.1 The Edge and Live Nations #sixinthesix. Six shows, back to back in no where other than the 6ix!The Opera house was packed with nearly 1000 fans and USS did not disappoint, playing new material from their second full length LP “New World Alphabet” which can be expected for release after the new year. The two openers B. Rich and B.A Johnston got the show started before USS took the stage with a presence that could only be described as electric. The “Human Kebab” wore a flaming Adidas track suit and couldn’t get through the third song without doing his infamous head stands and Ashley Buchholz’s energy was nothing short of voltaic and could be felt from start to finish. Surprising fans by performing a new song “Heaven on Mars” for the first time ever live and old time favourites “This is the Best” and “Damini” The duo took time between songs to not only thank the crowd, emphasizing the younger fans in the audience. But also the city, reminding us of their Toronto roots and its role in the bands success. USS isn’t done with Toronto just yet. They played another sold out show on Thursday and have two more shows coming up on Friday at Adelaide hall and on Saturday at Danforth Music Hall.
