DEAF HAVANA – “ST PAULS”

I owe this latest music discovery to my curated Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify, which helped start my week off right because it introduced me to Deaf Havana’s “St. Paul’s.”

English alternative rock band, Deaf Havana originally formed in 2005, and referred to the upcoming “All These Countless Nights” as “the most consciously thought-out record we’ve ever made.” Having already released three songs from the album, “St Paul’s” marks the bands fourth single.

“St. Paul’s” is the perfect song to coincide with the weather we are having lately. It’s very chill, soothing and gives you all the feels. It is about meeting someone new and going through new experiences with that person, and essentially liking them like a high school crush.

Frontman James Veck-Gilodi explains,

“St. Paul’s is simply enough a song I wrote when I was in St. Paul’s. It was about the big change in my life, and coming out of a relationship. This song is about coming from that relationship and into a new one, and St. Paul’s just happened to be the place where we were living.”

Veck-Gilodi continues to share that the band was much more focus and matured a lot during the process of making the album due to a small break from recording and making music as a band. The album is intended to sound like a journal in which fans can listen to a song and be able to relate to that particular experience.

The band will embark on a UK tour in February to promote the new album.
