Congratulation to Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino,) who accepted two awards for his FX series “Atlanta” at last night’s Golden Globes. The show, which Glover helped pen and which he stars in, was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. In an acceptance speech by Glover, he thanks all of Atlanta, specifically giving a shout out to Migos, the Georgia-based rap group, for making the hot track “Bad and Boujee”. The song, which has incited weeks of memes based on its intro lyrics “Raindrops, drop tops…”, Glover goes on to describe as being “the best song ever.”
He also was personally awarded the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. He delivered a poignant acceptance speech where he described art as “magic”, and he personally thanked his son and the mother of his son for allowing him the opportunity to “believe in people again.” Donald Glover released his third studio album as Childish Gambino in early December of 2016. One of the more emotionally driven tracks on the album is titled “Baby Boy” in honour of Glover’s son.
