Coming at us from New York, Whoisdearjane combines her own sound with a heavy influence from the alternative R&B scene north of her here in Toronto, establishing herself as a notable player in a game that’s growing faster than anybody can keep track of. Her name fits well, as many people will be asking themselves that same question after hearing the music she’s been creating. Grabbing your attention in the first few seconds, Whoisdearjane establishes a heavy vibe immediately with ‘Temporary Bed’ off of her self titled debut EP ‘Dear Jane’. Dark synths and raw vocals open this song strong, creating tension that begs for the release that follows. Synths open up and drums come at us hard, laying the foundation for a catchy hook-driven chorus that drives the song home.

Produced by Nico Cary and Rafael Casal, with Eran Westwood on the boards, we hope to hear more from this team, as there’s clearly something good that happens when they combine themselves. Be sure to check out the rest of the EP, with a personal favourite being the saddest rendition of ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams we’ve ever heard.
