Norway-based pop/electronic band called Whales and This Lake made up of members Anders Søvik Hjelden, Hans Olav Settem and Max Peder Brekke, is definitely making a name for themselves with the release of their second single “The Fly” which released last week. The single is off their upcoming album to be released September 22nd.
The track is already getting heavy rotation on the largest national radio station in Norway, NRK P3.
The electro-pop yet indie rock sounding song itself is very catchy and radio-friendly. After just listening to it once, I can’t get the lyrics out of my head. The track itself from what it sounds like is simply about a fly. I’m sure there is some other metaphoric meaning behind the lyrics that I couldn’t quite decipher but nonetheless, I enjoyed it. This band definitely has a unique sound with their vocal harmonies and 80s-like sound.
This is definitely a band to look out for.
