If you have yet to hear the debut track by Scottish artist, ONR, you best be grabbing your headphones right now. “Jericho,” will fill up your craving for a final summer jammer in one epic, 80’s induced banger.
There is a not so subtle reflection on 1980’s new wave, with bands like Depeche Mode and Joy Division coming to mind at first spin. It’s a full exploration of synth-gold that builds and finishes with anthemic style. “Jericho” flushes out it’s influences through driving bass lines and bright use of synthesizer, but captures the brilliant glow of past generations with clear and melodic vocals that build just as well as the instrumentation.
With “Jericho” as his musical debut to the world, ONR sets the stage only with the challenge of pushing the boundaries he has set for himself. With a following continually increasing on streaming services after the track’s release just under a month ago, the new artist has set the ground work for a promising career. While recording with producer Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag & Bone Man), the musician has crafted a sound he can be confident of.
Stay tuned for the debut EP from ONR set to be released later this year.
