Grammy nominee PartyNextDoor is a 24-year-old Mississauga native who made a big splash in 2013 when he signed with Drake’s own record label, OVO Sound. Since then, PartyNextDoor has come a very long way. He just dropped his new EP, titled Seven Days, and the seven track EP features some big-time supporting artists, such as Halsey and Rick Ross.
“Damage”, featuring Halsey, is a fast-paced, upbeat song. With some slight auto-tune and dance-party beats, the song quickly gets you hyped and ready for the next track. As artists, Halsey and PartyNextDoor complement each other and perform very well. Halsey effortlessly enters the flow and contributes rhythmic vocals and soft echoes. It’s an easy-to-party-to song.
“Better Man”, featuring Rick Ross, has a completely different feel. “Better Man” is essentially your classic R&B tune, with a slightly softer feel and more soothing vocals. PartyNextDoor lays down compelling lyrics and outstanding harmonies about love and disappointment. Rick Ross then comes in with a bang and livens up the song, without negating the R&B beat. It’s a very effective track, but nothing you haven’t experienced before.
PartyNextDoor also still plans to drop his full-length album, titled “Club Atlantis,” sometime later this year. In the meantime, check him out on tour with Halsey and Charli XCX.
