Keynes Woods is a 22 year-old, Toronto based rapper, born in Kinshasa, DRC where he spent the first eight years of his life before migrating to Canada.
He released his first song in 2015, and since then he has released a couple other singles as well as an EP, “Temporary”, last year. Keynes brings something different to the game with his distinct flow that seems to work with soothing instrumentals.
A few months after releasing his mellow, ethereal single “Dream Girl”, Keynes is back with “Shoot Your Shot” (feat. Lotanna). Produced by Ennisclarenorth, Keynes’ new single is a refreshing hip-hop track showcasing the young artist’s signature flow and effective lyrics. We see Keynes rapping about taking chances over an infectious beat.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Keynes says:
“It’s equal parts a motivational anthem, cautionary tale and a love song – I remember scrolling through my timeline on Instagram and seeing a fine looking hipster shorty. I’m not one to slide into DMs, but I figured I’d shoot my shot for once. About a year into our relationship, I realized that it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
The up-and-coming hip-hop artist also directed the music video for the single. The video gives great aesthetic pleasure with its visual style, chill atmosphere and neon colors. If you are into art and riveting visuals, check the video below!
