Tory stays making the right moves with the right producers. I remember when he started transitioning into a more unique sound after working with the WEDIDIT collective for his Cruel Intentions EP. That included placements with RL Grime and Shlohmo to mention a few which started his shift into a more electronic realm.
Now he’s landed with two of the biggest electronic producers in the game and I’m proud to see the growth. The tropical vibe is still evident as with most things Diplo puts his hands on, which suits Tory’s island vibe. The production is actually quite minimal. The hook only really introduces the brass stabs and some subtle vocal chops. The verses are quite empty, just some nice stringy arps and slapping claps and cool filtered percussion sounds.
I remember hearing Tory say in an interview he’s very careful with collaborating and basically to never work with anyone who’s on a lower level than him. I guess being picky paid off for the Brampton native.
We’re expecting an official video soon but for now, here’s the official lyric video.
