Having spent the bulk of 2017 writing and crafting her own sound in the studio, rising R&B singer J Elle released her debut EP, ‘Phases’, last month.
The 5-track EP features production from Drifta and Miguel London and was penned solely by J Elle herself. Describing her sound, London based singer/songwriter explains: “RnB has always been my baby but I wanted to branch out and try other things too, because you don’t grow inside your comfort zone!”
J Elle just released the colorful visuals for the title track, directed by Chas. The song acts as an anchor to the rest of the EP and J Elle‘s appeal greatly stems from her honesty and personality through songwriting, mixing fictional stories with stark realities and relationship battles. “Phases” is built around some futuristic Alt/R&B production with elements of Trap added to the mix.
Speaking of the track, J Elle explains:“I think it describes many modern day relationships. Sometimes I hate you, but that’s okay, cos I’m always gonna love you!”
