Meet Naoko (Japanese for “honest”): Charite Viken and Eriend Elvesveen. Charite takes no time to hit us with beautiful riffs right in the verse and the lush pre-hook harmonies really drew me into this one. Eriend’s undertones of lurking low synth compliment her nicely. This hook is crazy though. The synth chords and how they match her melodies blows me away and the creative use of other percussion and chops.
There’s something crazy about you, she repeats. Some kind of voodo. She’s questioning if the love and who she sees in front of her is real or just a hallucination. Sometimes love can feel that way indeed.
These vocals compare to Jhene Aiko, Tinashe and Kehlani with production influenced by fellow Norweigans, Lido and Cashmere Cat.
