Electronic outfit Opia consist of Yale graduates Cole Citrenbaum (vocals/guitar) and Jacob Reske (producer). The duo make atmospheric, R&B-influenced pop informed by their love of EDM, singer/songwriter folk, and a cappella vocals. Last summer, Opia released their debut EP, ‘Faded’ and embarked on a tour, supporting fast rising EDM DJ Whethan. The EP is a combination of soulful vocals with roiling guitar riffs, heavy instrumental lines and catchy melodies.
“Devil In Disguise”, single taken from ‘Faded’, is a spunky futuristic electro-funk song elevated by the lush, intricate production and the gritty guitar/throbbing synth combo. The duo brings something new to the table as the guitar is especially prevalent on this track which is uncommon in a genre normally relying on computerized instrumentation.
