Sofia Monroy grew up on a rooftop in Mexico, and moved to the northern parts of Sweden when she was 2 years old. In 2015, she made her debut for the public when participating in Swedish Idol where she made it all the way to the finals.
Currently living in Stockholm, she’s been developing her artistry and preparing for the next step. Blending her latin heritage with minimalistic Scandinavian pop music, she presents a new and eclectic wave of modern soul music.
Musically influenced by Erykah Badu and D’Angelo, she tells personal stories about identity and belonging. A big voice with big expectations for the future.
The mexican rooftop inspiration comes out in the odd lyrics that roll of her tongue in spanish. She has a great mid-range and falsetto tone that both float easily over the bouncy production. There is unique guitar/synth sounding layers over the insturmental too that provides that funk aspect that’ll have you grooving.
