Born in Belgium to an English mother and a South African father, MOLI is based in Berlin, has recorded with huge Stockholm and London pop factories, and right now has her sights set on Los Angeles. The world has shrunk, but her multi-lingual ambitions just keep getting bigger.
This somewhat 80’s influenced synthy-arp fantasy is the perfecting territory for her impeccable vocal delivery. Every note is just so buttery.
It’s 3am right now and I just got Uber Eats, guess I don’t wanna sleep on the weekend either, I feel you girl.
Deeper then my current situation, MOLI tells us,
“This song is inspired by my move to Berlin. When I first arrived as an 18 year old, I was so shocked when someone told me the clubs were open all weekend, all day and night. Coming from a relatively small town in Belgium, this was something that seemed absolutely crazy to me. After being there a couple years, I feel like I now understand the city so much more. Berlin is a hub for lost souls. People who have just quit their jobs or divorced or that simply got lost. They come to Berlin to have a good time, take drugs and escape reality. The magic and danger about Berlin is that the party never really stops and especially on the weekend. This was my main inspiration for this song. But also in general in our society, the weekend is an escape from reality. We run away from our responsibilities until monday hits us with the truth. It’s about drinking or taking substances to run away from whatever is tormenting you in the real world.”
