Adrian Sieber has been in music for almost 30 years. He’s known primarily in his home-country Switzerland as the singer for Lovebugs, who’ve scored several #1 albums and are generally a big deal there. Adrian’s solo work is pop-tronica ear-candy that’s very much worth a listen. Start with his new single: ‘Tightrope (Oops-a-Daisy!)’
‘Tightrope’ is a very fun song. Instrumentally: imagine electro drums, fuzzy synth bass, 8-bit squiggles, and 32-bit squiggles. It wouldn’t work if the melody wasn’t great, but it’s a super catchy pop song with a very hooky chorus. “Oops-a-Daisy no you can’t fix crazy no you can’t keep my life from unravelling,’’ chants Adrian in a processed sugar-pop vocal style, supported by a 90s synth pattern.
I got the impression this track doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is what won me to it. The Pac-man-death-bleep sounds immediately create a wonderful sense of fun and breeziness, and the chorus is a genuine bopper. This is a song to listen to while walking down the street in a good mood, ready to put out some goofy vibes.
