Conan Gray is one of those cases where a small-town kid makes some very catchy music on Garageband and a cheap mic taped to a lamp and finds explosive success. This doesn’t always happen, and it’s a testament to Conan’s ability as a songwriter. Fast forward to the present, and he’s already got hundreds of millions of streams and tons of radio and media success, particularly for his break-out hit ‘Maniac’. Here’s his newest single, which is called ‘Wish You Were Sober’.

‘Wish You Were Sober’ is an easy-going top-40 geared pop song. It features vocoder harmonies, modern electro-trip-hoppy production, and 808 bass. Conan’s bright and smooth voice cuts right through mix, singing about escaping a bad party and finding love. There’s something very classic and early 2000s about this track. It’s catchy and fun and this guy clearly deserves his success. Check it out and get ready for his full length, entitled ‘Kid Krow’, coming to all music places in May.
