Yorke aka Grace Hughes is a 20-year-old singer song-writer from Byron Bay, Australia. The name was stemmed from her love for New York City, a city that inspires her.
Her latest work consists of introspective vocals, carefully-crafted melodies and spacious pop hooks than lean towards a brooding aesthetic. Yorke weaves vividly through emotions and experiences, offering a three-dimensional snapshot of her life through intimate lyrics. She also places an equal emphasis on production, with each hit of the replay button uncovering new layers and a remarkable depth to her music.
Yorke tells us,
“I see this song as a breath of fresh air on the EP. A moment to stop and let things go, and just enjoy being in the moment. The lyric:
‘Honestly we’re holding onto things we can’t control’
sums up a lot of the EP for me. It’s the acknowledgement that yes, things are out of your hands and you’re just going to have to accept that. I really struggled with change when I was younger, but I’m getting a lot better.”
This song is off her recently LP “Liberosis” released via Universal. We look forward to the progression of the young artist! listen below to “Nights We Waste” and be sure to peep the whole album.
