Greta Isaac‘s latest release, “Like Me,” hits hard in the best way. Accompanied by a powerful music video, the song reflects on self-love, insecurity and reaching out for acceptance. The verse’s minimalism is contrasted by the more vocal-prominent pre-chorus, where her vocals are commanding with a hooky melody. The hook/drop section features an intriguing filtered guitar that gives the song indie-style appeal, while maintaining a commercial pop identity.
There’s clever irony in the fact that the song sheds light on wanting more control over our feelings, while the well-thought-out choreography displays command and control at its finest. With every movement, Greta’s performance and intent feels that much more impactful.
